We are fortunate to have the support of hundreds of volunteers throughout
Sheboygan County. Volunteers, and their commitment to our community, are at the heart of the success of the United Way movement. If you would like to volunteer to serve on one of our committees or work on one of the many programs that we fund please give contact us.
Success Stories
Above & Beyond Children’s Museum
Working with all ages of children in programming or as floor monitors or working with adults in program or craft preparation, exhibit preparation, construction, maintenance, marketing or customer service. View website.
American Red Cross
For Health & Safety: people willing to be trained as instructors to teach First Aid, CPR, AED and Babysitting classes. View website.
- Disaster Action Team (DAT) - Willing to be on call to respond to home fires locally for short periods of time. (Training required).
- Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR ) - Volunteers needed. Must be willing to respond anywhere in the U.S. for a minimum of two weeks. (Training required).
- Blood Volunteers - Help at the site of regular bloodmobile visits to the Sheboygan office, or to community bloodmobiles around Sheboygan County: Canteen, Registration or Donor Room volunteers.
- International Services - Looking for one or two very special volunteers to be trained as International Humanitarian Law Instructors.
Big Brothers & Big Sisters
Acting as mentors for their community-based (Big Brothers, Big Sisters or Big Couples) or school-based (Lunch Buddies) programs. Also, need Board members and people to help with fund-raising. View website.
Catholic Charities
Need help for finding material assistance and resources for refugees. Especially needed are help and guidance in how to resettle in the Sheboygan area. View website.
Children’s Service Society
Child care for participant’s children while parents are attending Parenting Class. View website.
Family Connections
Assistance with secretarial needs such as photo-copying, bulk mailings, dropping off posters/flyers, etc. Also need volunteers to paint their bathrooms. View website.
Family Resource Centers of Sheboygan County
Tutoring adult literacy students and ESL students and Partners in Reading program. Also, for collating training materials and telephoning tutors. View website.
Family Service Association
Clerical help: copying, collating and filing; document scanning and filing
Budget Counselors and Educators – need certification and experience – training can be provided. View website.
Foster Grandparent Program
Working with students in a school setting under the supervision of a classroom teacher. View website.
Girl Scouts of America
Working with girls of all ages as troop leaders, co-leaders, trainers, cookie sale mangers, program event facilitators. View website.
Meals on Wheels
Delivering for Meals on Wheels – weekly or monthly routes as well as subs are needed. View website.
Mental Health America
Volunteers are needed to work at the MHA booth at the county fair. Also, for being the mascot, working health fairs, baking, etc. and the Adopt-A-Street program. View website
Rainbow Kids
Facilitators to work with our participants – 4 years old through high-school and adults - once a week for 14 weeks. Groups meet for one hour. A six-hour training is required and a three hour in-service is provided a week before the group sessions start up. Also need representatives on their Board of Directors. Bulk mailings, (folding, sealing envelopes, etc.) Loading supplies in totes and buckets to be used at our sites. Making buttons on our button machine to be used at our sites. View website.
