HCHY "I Have Assets"

The Asset of the Month is an extension of the "40 Developmental Assets" that has been designed by the Search Institute. Healthy Communities Healthy Youth stresses positive youth development and the strengthening of families. The asset of the month program aims to focus the community on the applicability of the forty assets and to provide resources to communities, schools, families, and individuals as to how to be a proactive force in making our community a healthier place to live.

Studies revealed that youth who experience a high number of Developmental Assets will have a more positive and successful development. Likewise, youth who do not experience many assets will have a greater probability to engage in risky behaviors such as drug use, unsafe sex, and violence.
